about
Every song has humble beginnings. On a quest to rediscover herself as a new mom, Annie Lynn picked up a songwriting book in a half priced book store, learned to play guitar from an old cassette tape her dad had given her way back in 1997, and never looked back. Less than six months later, she played her first open mic at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville playing her song, Carry On. The next day she recorded it at the Ryman Auditorium as a part of a tour package on July 31, 2018. This is a song inspired by the things her grandmother used to say to her when things got tough. On March 20th, 2020 she released a re-recorded version. Her motto: Make it an adventure! ... and never give up. Annie continues to release music regularly today.
lyrics
"Carry On" lyrics:
She taught me how to spell Mississippi
Twirling my hair she’d say how pretty
She loved to talk, hardly stop for a pause
She’d call me up, just to ask how I was
And say…
Carry on, Keep your chin up honey
Not everyone’s gonna love you like me
Carry on, carry on honey
Life’s short, lay back, float
Carry on, carry on honey
Nice things take time, so carry on
I’d visit her coming down from the city
Missing her voice, told her she looked pretty
She had no words, but she smiled anyway
I already knew just what she would say
Carry on, Keep your chin up honey
Not everyone’s gonna love you like me
Carry on, carry on honey
Life’s short, lay back, float
Carry on, carry on honey
Nice things take time, so carry on
She’d say… Hi oh! Hi oh! E nee, Me nee, E chy Peachy, Why oh!
Carry on, Keep your chin up honey
Not everyone’s gonna love you like me
Carry on, carry on honey
Life’s short, lay back, float
Carry on, carry on honey
Nice things take time, so carry on
